3, 2, 1......

As promised a sample of one of the pages we are working on for the next mudhoen, in it's 3 stages. This is page nr. 12. First Rico makes a thumb where he roughly sketches the page, showing where everything should go. Then I clean it up and pencil everything in as tightly as possible. Next Rico places my pencils on a light table and traces them with a brush on a new sheet of paper. And finally he colors them. Next step would be lettering and then the pages get stenciled.
So why do it this way? Well, Rico's thumbs make placing the figures on the page a lot easier for me and their poses become much more dynamic and he finds it much easier to ink my pencils because they are so clean :D This is a specific style we are looking for and this way it just goes superfast.
